Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958 in very poor circumstances. Her father was a car salesman and her mother was a school teacher. Jennifer was the second child of her parents and often accompanied her mother who worked as a school teacher, to theater performances. She thought she was remarkable. Jennifer's parents split when she was five. Jennifer spent the bulk of her childhood living in British Columbia, after her mother relocated there with their four children. Jennifer did not have a good education, despite being an extremely artistic kid. The time she spent in Canadian schools led to her being often the target of bullying. In the years that her interest in theatre was fading, she began to participate in theatre plays to help her mom. The mother of her children encouraged the entire family to get involved in arts and crafts. Then she began acting.
